100% meat-free Boerie Burger pie from Your moms favourite channel!
Boerie – Short for Boerewors “A type of traditional South African sausage” Farmer sausage… not to be confused with Farmer’s sausage.
Boerewors can be made into a pattie too. Seeing that it’s just ground meat and spice shoved into an intestine.
But this is not just any Boerie patty though… this one is made from Seitan (himself) lol
Seitan is a “wheat meat” made from the protein in wheat (gluten) making this vegan too…
No farmers were harmed in the making of this video.
“Boerie” Burger Pie
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius
Fry the boerie patties in a little oil. It works best on a on a griddle pan if you have one
Add the onion slices and brown them on each side
Roll out the puff pastry and divide it into two equal halves.
Place one patty on the top half of each of the pastry sections.
Build the burger stack by layering the onions, garlic, barbecue sauce and cheese slices on top of the patties. Sprinkle each stack with a dash of Origanum and top it off with the brown mushrooms.
Slice the bottom section off of the pastry and place it on top of the burger stack.
Fold the edges of the bottom layer of pastry over the top layer and crimp the edges closed with a fork
Place the pies on an oven tray with a healthy serving of frozen chips
Sprinkle some Origanum over the chips
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the pastry is cooked through and has a golden sheen
Serve with a side salad and enjoy
